Luther Classical College Appoints Michael Morizio as Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer

Michael Morizio brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial vision, missionary service, and musical artistry to his role as Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer at Luther Classical College. A proven leader, innovator, and closer with a track record of multimillion-dollar domestic and international deals, Michael has spent his career building strategic alliances and turning bold ideas into lasting institutions.

In the early 2000s, Morizio’s company developed ScoutAdvisor®, a scouting and analytics platform that changed how professional baseball organizations evaluated talent. The company built software used by the Oakland Athletics to process and report proprietary scouting and analytics data during the era chronicled in Moneyball. Morizio later deployed the platform with 19 Major League Baseball teams and one team in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball league.

He holds an MBA from Bentley University in Boston, giving him the analytical rigor and C-level command that have defined his career.

A devout Christian and confessional Lutheran, Michael spent seven and a half years in Italy serving as a business manager and missionary for the LCMS Office of International Mission–Eurasia. There, he and his wife Nancy, together with two newly ordained Italian pastors, planted the first confessional Lutheran church in Italy located in the heart of Rome, just 100 yards from the Pantheon.

Michael served as an Elder at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Westminster, Massachusetts, for 12 years, and as Music Director there for 18 years. A gifted choral composer, he holds a BM from the Hartt School of Music and an MM from the Boston Conservatory, and has composed several sacred choral works, including And the Word Became Flesh — Seven Anthems to Christ, based on the seven known ancient hymn texts found in the New Testament.

Michael is deeply committed to the formation of young adults through a continuing classical education, one that teaches students how to think while dwelling on “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable,”(Philippians 4:8).

Michael and his wife Nancy are blessed with two adult children and twelve grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys composing, cooking, sightseeing, and philosophical and theological discussions with other like-minded Christians.
