With just under thirty weeks remaining until its inaugural week of classes, Luther Classical College (LCC) has secured the necessary funding to complete the construction of its first on-campus residence. “We give thanks to God for His providence for us and for our students,” says LCC president Rev. Dr. Harold Ristau. “Every brick laid is a blessing from our Lord to our Lutheran posterity. May He continue to guide our steps as we prepare to welcome our first students this fall.”
In recognition of the Walter C. Dissen Charitable Trust’s outstanding contributions to the construction of this residence, the building will be named “Otto House” in memory of Rev. E. J. Otto, a faithful servant of Christ and friend of the late Mr. Walter Dissen. The residence can house between sixteen and twenty-four students in suites featuring kitchens and common areas. The completion of Otto House, scheduled for May 2025, will finalize LCC’s housing options for its first year and advance its building campaign.
This campus development follows a landmark few months for LCC’s fundraising. The college received donations totaling over $375,000 in December 2024 alone. With an influx of generosity at the beginning of 2025, the college is now supported by over 200 Lutheran congregations and over 350 patrons. “Every day, Lutherans around our nation give us cause to enter the gates of our Lord with thanksgiving,” says Mr. Asa Hoffman, LCC director of advancement.
LCC is building a Lutheran campus in accordance with its third institutional objective: “To instill in the rising generation of Lutherans the priority of Christian marriage, family, and piety, through instruction in the doctrine of vocation and the virtuous examples of faculty, staff, and administrators.”
