LCC Academic Scarf – (Buy one, get one for a student)

It was through Britain’s ancient universities that the teachings of Martin Luther first reached the English-speaking world. In 1521, at a Cambridge tavern known as the White Horse Inn, several university professors regularly met to discuss the works of the Reformation coming out of Germany. The group included the likes of Thomas Cranmer, Robert Barnes, and William Tyndale, all of whom were martyred for their adherence to the Reformation. At the same time in Scotland, a young priest by the name of Patrick Hamilton began preaching the doctrines of Martin Luther in St Andrews, only to be burned at the stake in front of the university chapel.

Half a millennium later, Luther Classical College carries on the tradition started by these men in bringing the theology of the Lutheran Reformation to the English-speaking world. In honor of their efforts and bold proclamation of the Gospel, LCC has commissioned its own academic scarf from English manufacturer William Turner in the style worn by the students at Britain’s ancient universities. Like LCC, the academic scarf is a ‘new, old thing’ that had its roots going back to time immemorial, but the distinct striped style comes from rationing during the Second World War.

While the LCC scarf calls upon a five-hundred year academic tradition, it is supremely stylish with LCC’s colors and an embroidered crest and, as it is made of English wool, a highly practical accessory during Wyoming’s windy winter days.

These scarves are available to the general public at a cost of $120, which helps pay for a student’s scarf.
